Action games are video games that depend on beating physical challenges. You need good hand/eye corrdination and good reaction time to beat these games. Action game types can include fighting games, shooting games including first person shooters. As in other video games, the player must complete game levels by defeating enemies of various strengths and capabilities.

At the end of each level or perhaps groups of levels, the player must defeat a big boss to move on. This is a more difficult opponent that is more challenging that the other opponents in the video game. Some games are unbeatable because they never run out of levels. Your goal though is to get the highest score compared to other players.

Cool shooting games make up the vast majority of the action type games and itself encompasses first person shooters, target shooting, tank shooting etc. In each of the genres, the focus is on using some type of weapon – usually a gun or a longer range weapon. Ammunition may be unlimited or you may have to re-stock by reloading your weapon by capturing supply depots.

Shooters of whatever type, all have certain characteristics. For example, you view events from in front you – you are the eyes of the character or perhaps you are viewing from a couple of feet behind the character. The Robotron 2084 arcade game is an example.

Tactical shooting games attempt to be as close to real life ballistics as possible including injuries to the character. Some shooters come very close to being considered fantasy. Most shooter games are played by one player only. You may control only one character but in some games you may control a group of characters. Even though you may be giving orders to your computer allies, you still can only control one character at a time.

With the advent of the gaming console, there came the opportunity to play against other players directly or alternatively to play with multiple players on a team or squad.
